The "Stellar Music Project" public talk, given by Zoltan Kolath at the instigation of Don Kurtz from UCLan was a great success. Pictured here before the talk, Zoltan (right) and Don (left) gave a great show to nearly 200 members of the public and delegates to the National Astronomy Meeting.- Durham won the National Astronomy Meeting annual football tournament in a final against Edinburgh.
- Unfortunately the printed abstract book omitted those for sessions P42 Surveys: Wide, Deep and Multi-wavelength (Monday), P41 Cosmological Probes (Wednesday) and P43 Young Astronomers' Meeting (Wednesday). Addenda for these abstracts are available from the registration desk.

The new (and strict!) deadline is 15 March (9:00AM GMT).

- We are pleased to report that the recently announced next Director General of ESO - Tim de Zeeuw - will present the Opening Plenary Talk at NAM2007, on Monday April 16th. This is a wonderful opportunity for the entire UK community to celebrate Tim's scientific achievements and well-deserved appointment, so be sure to register early, and take the time to introduce yourself, your research, and your institute to Tim at NAM.
- We wish to draw your attention to important developments being driven by ASTRONET, in relation to designing a "new vision for European astronomy". Prof Mike Bode will be Chairing the Roadmapping Process on behalf of ASTRONET, and will be on hand at NAM2007 to present an overview of the process and leading a critical discussion on what this means for the future of infrastructure committments and developments for UK astronomy. We cannot overstate the importance to the community that they be in attendance for this discussion.
- 2007 is the 50th Anniversary of perhaps the single-most important advance across all astronomy - essentially the "invention" of nucleosynthesis - specifically, the seminal paper entitled, "Synthesis of the Elements in Stars", by Burbidge, Burbidge, Fowler & Hoyle (instantly recognised by its "call-letters" alone: BBFH). We are fortunate to have one of the world's young dynamic leaders in the field of stellar nucleosynthesis, Dr Amanda Karakas, in attendance at NAM2007 to help honour this important anniversary. An award-winning speaker, Amanda will be providing the opening Plenary Talk on Tuesday April 16th, reviewing the history and future of nucleosynthesis.
- This year NAM will highlight education and public outreach (EPO) programmes, with a particular emphasis on the run-up to International Year of Astronomy 2009. Two talk sessions, a networking lunch and a series of drop-in workshops on Tuesday 17th April will allow scientists and teachers to find out what opportunities are available within the UK and internationally, to promote astronomy and space science. Please contact Paul Roche (paul.roche @ faulkes-telescope.com) and Carolina Odman (odman @ strw.leidenuniv.nl) for details, and refer to the description for the Education & Outreach session. - We are pleased to note that we have arranged for all abstracts to be indexed and linked into NASA's ADS (23/02/07)
