The NAM venue on the UCLan campus is within walking distance of Preston rail station, which is a major national rail junction with frequent fast trains from London and elsewhere. There will also be ample free car parking available on campus for registered NAM participants. To reserve a car parking space, tick the relevant box on the registration form. The UCLan campus is approximately 15 minutes' drive from any of the M6 Junctions 29, 31, 31a and 32.

SCAP meeting, Weds April 18th including buffet lunch. 12:15 - 14:30
The main topic will be the PPARC/STFC present and future funding of projects, grants, the grants panels and advisory committee structures, and related issues. STFC senior managers may be available for discussion during this meeting, by phone or in person. There will also be short items on ASTRONET (Mike Bode) and the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (Ian Robson). The SCAP meeting will take place in one of the NAM venues in or near Greenbank Building (exact room to be announced later).
STFC Forum and RAS-SCAP Dinner, Thurs April 19th
The Thursday afternoon NAM plenary session includes the RAS Darwin Lecture and STFC Community Forum. If SCAP members have suggestions for particular topics and structure for the STFC Forum, please would they contact Gordon Bromage, Chair of SCAP, on gebromage@uclan.ac.uk, as soon as possible.
Following this, on Thursday evening, we are holding a social dinner event to encourage and enable informal interactions between SCAP, the NAM plenary lecturers and RAS prize-winners, RAS Council and officers etc. This will be at Hoghton Tower Preston, a 16th-century manor house with some strong James I/VI and Shakespeare connections.
